           Overview
           

           Based on Right Hemisphere's 3D format translation technology, Deep Exploration, the upcoming Virtools OpenCAD Module will provide Virtools customers with the ability to convert Catia, PTC and other industry standard models into Virtools models using the NMO file format. This Virtools OpenCAD Module will present great opportunities for CAD users to finally enter the world of realtime 3D interactivity delivered by Virtools. Virtools OpenCAD will allow them to create 3D interactive content for Virtual Reality or Simulation applications such as virtual training, interactive project reviews, design and 3D product visualization for publishing to various mediums including CD Rom, Internet, Virtual Reality immersive displays, etc.

           A powerful and open conversion tool.
         

           The new Virtools OpenCAD Module will allow end-users to convert any kind of file, particularly CAD files, for integration into the Virtools development platform where interactivity required for Virtual Reality and Simulation projects can be graphically scripted. Virtools OpenCAD supports most commonly used CAD formats, such as CATIA, ProEngineer, AutoCAD, Solidworks and more.
         

           The new Virtools OpenCAD module will allow users to actively control the conversion process, by fine-tuning different parameters when converting files, such as file size, elimination of small elements, redefining the hierarchy, etc. in order to perfectly optimize models for the constraints of real-time 3D. It will also include a batch processor to facilitate iterative tasks.
         

           Virtools OpenCAD Module will create optimized files for the creation of interactivity in Virtools's user-friendly GUI interface, allowing efficient deployment of most any type of real-time 3D applications.
         

           Some major features of Virtools OpenCAD are:
         

           controlled polgon reduction for better usage of “level of detail” in Virtools Dev
           

           correction of objects during data conversion in view of pupose of usage
           

           correction of normal-vectors
           

           Function “Welding” for merging close points in objects
           

           “Scripting” for optimum model adjustment during the conversion to the requirements of your project
           

           The following formats are an extract of the supported 3D-Formats which can be converted with OpenCAD. All formats which are conform with the Deep Exploration Standard such as 3ds, Lightwave, XSI, VRML, OBJ, DXF, Openlight, etc, are supported in general as well as so all extended formats these are AutoCAR, SolidWorks, IGES, CADKEY (Deep Exploration CoreCAD Modul), CATIA V4 and V5 (Deep Exploration CATIA Modul), ProEngineer, STEP (Deep Exploration PTC Granite Modul).
