LG announced a number of new smartphones at MWC 2012
LG announced the LG Optimus 4X HD, a new quad-core smartphone at MWC 2012.
The high-spec phone is powered an Nvidia 1.5GHz Tegra 3 processor and LG claim it is able to deliver ‘PC-like performance'.
As well as a quad-core processor, the phone also has 16GB of memory and an 8 megapixel camera. LG is aiming to address the issue of powerful processors reducing battery life by including a fifth, low-power processor. The company said that this extra processor would be used for ‘less demanding tasks' such as music playback.
The Optimus 4X HD runs on the latest version of Android for smartphones, 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and has a 4.7 inch display that has a resolution of 1280 x 720.
Also on the LG stand at MWC 2012 was the Optimus 3D Max, a glasses-free 3D smartphone. The device will launch with Android 2.3 Gingerbread but LG said it will then be upgraded to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. There is a button on the phone for switching between 2D and 3D display and there is also a 3D camera for shooting photos and videos in 3D. The Optimus 3D Max can also convert 2D content into 3D, so Google Maps can be converted to 3D images.
Release dates and prices for both phones are yet to be announced.
